Gray Line I Love Rome offers a one-of-a-kind experience to explore the breathtaking beauty of Rome through their open-top panoramic buses. The bus ticket included in the deal covers eight stops along the route, allowing passengers to sit back and relax while taking in the spectacular view of the city's most iconic monuments.
The combination of the bus tour with one of the four available walking tours is the perfect way to explore the city center in a day. The walking tours are designed to take visitors to hidden corners of the city that they may not have discovered otherwise. A professional guide will be waiting at the meeting point, located next to the indicated stop of the pink buses, to show visitors some stunning corners of the city.
The Trastevere district walking tour is one of the available tours that takes visitors on a journey through medieval Rome. Trastevere district is one of the most beautiful and authentic neighborhoods in Rome. The district was originally outside the city's perimeter until the Republican era. It soon became a thriving district populated by the best artisans, such as potters, carpenters, millers, furnace workers, leather and ivory workers, musicians, artists, writers, and painters, who lived among the narrow and romantic alleys, breathing the air of the true popular Rome.
The walking tour begins with a visit to Tiber Island, where visitors can relive all the most important events that marked its development and history. The island's core is made up of volcanic rock, and hundreds of years of accumulation by floods have helped make it what it is today. After the visit to Tiber Island, visitors will be taken to Trastevere, where they can explore the Basilica of San Crisogono, one of the oldest Roman basilicas.
Visitors will realize they have reached the heart of Rome's most characteristic district when they get to Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere. Here they can admire the Basilica of the same name, which has a centuries-old history as the first official Christian place of worship in the city.
The walk ends with a dive into the historical alleys surrounding Piazza San Cosimato, where visitors can explore the magnificent Church of San Francesco a Ripa. The Church of San Francesco a Ripa houses an impressive collection of art, including notable works such as Bernini's sculpture of L'Estasi della Beata Ludovica and pieces by Giorgio de Chirico located in the chapel.
As this enchanting stroll through the historic and lively heart of Rome draws to a close, visitors can pause at the Basilica of Santa Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians, and let the beauty of the surroundings inspire them to hum some of the most beautiful lyrical verses.
In conclusion, Gray Line I Love Rome's combination of bus tours and walking tours offers visitors the chance to explore the stunning beauty of Rome in a unique and unforgettable way. Book now to get the best experience from your visit to Rome.
