Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are two large parks in Central London. Hyde Park was created in 1536 as a private hunting ground for King Henry VIII and opened to the public in 1637. Key sites in Hyde Park include Speakers Corner and Marble Arch at the northeast and Apsley House and Wellington Arch at the southeast. To the west, you find Kensington Gardens, originally the private gardens of Kensington Palace. Kensington Gardens is more formal than Hyde Park and features the Round Pond, with Kensington Palace located at the park’s western edge.
