Overview

Monaco, a beautiful independent city-state lies in the French Riviera in Western Europe. A Sovereign state, Monaco is surrounded by France from three sides, and at one side it is the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. The region is also close to Italy but shares no direct border with the country. An amazing but very small area, Monaco is the second smallest country in the world after Vatican City. The tiny territory is a composition of the hill laden land and a highland which faces the peaceful Mediterranean. The state gives the essence of Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians and Roman culture. Monaco is also famous for its racing tracks and the gambling segment of Monte Carlo. Monte Carlo is the place where the global extravagant rich display reckless dispersion of money. Experience this beautiful country in the Monaco Hop On Hop off bus tour with 12 stops for exploration.

Itinerary

Start the Monaco sightseeing from the first stop, i.e., Monte Carlo. An important thing to note here for the visitors coming by cruise is they can start the trip from the cruise terminal itself or take the Bateau bus across the Monaco harbor to start from Monate Carlo. Monte Carlo is a highland looking straight towards the Mediterranean. Stuck between the Alps and gothic French villages, Monte Carlo is a stunner. Most of the wealthy people visit this place for the Casino, Known as the Casino de Monte Carlo. There is more to the place than just a casino. One can also pump up the adrenaline at May’s Formula 1 Grand Prix. Visit the Larvotto Beach for some good use of the sun and also take the experience of world-class opera in Monte Carlo. Monaco becomes a little hard to navigate and explore with fewer taxis and other public transportations. Thus, city sightseeing bus tour is the best option.

Visit the famous gardens of Monaco. The peaceful Japanese Garden, Exotic Garden and Princess Grace Botanical. Walking around these gardens is very relaxing. Shopping is a good option for the next Hop Off bus stop. Monaco is famous for exquisite Shopping boutiques too. Take back a few good memories and souvenirs from the shopping experience. Next Hop On and Hop Off at the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco. A fascinating place to visit in Monaco, especially if you are a Marine Lover. The Aquarium at the basement displays the Mediterranean and tropical aquatic life. The building is a part of the Oceanographic Institute. Continuing with the trip, visit the Place du Palais, the official stay of the Sovereign Prince of Monaco. This palace was built in 1191 as a part of The Republic Of Genoa.

With a minimal area, Monaco is the most densely populated sovereign state in the world. Enjoy the sightseeing of the beautiful Mediterranean country in open roof double decker regular interval buses.

Four of us adults took the hop-on / hop-off bus in Monaco today. Busy day due to the Grand Prix. Buses are due at 15 minute intervals and to finish at 17.45. Bus driver did not indicate that there would be any problems. At 1700 we were waiting for the bus outside the Musée Océanographique de Monaco and a further 15 people joined us in the queue. Obviously they were not informed of any problems or changes in timetables by the company either. I rang the company offices at 1800 to inform them that no bus had passed us for an hour and that there were almost twenty people waiting at this bus stop. Not sure about other passengers at other bus stops. Company announced that they had shut the tour down at 1700 and were not concerned that they had left their customers stranded. Would not recommend this tour if you are depending on a reliable timetable or you do not want to be deserted by the bus company in a city you do not know. I have used these buses in other cities and found them a brilliant way to get around. Really taken aback by this tour.
