Itinerary

Situated in the central-western part of Italy, Rome serves as the capital and largest city of the country. Its history spans over 2,500 years, filled with fascinating landmarks, ancient ruins, awe-inspiring art, and a vibrant modern culture. The city's central location makes it a perfect starting point for exploring the rest of Italy. Rome is known for its rich history as the center of the Roman Empire and iconic landmarks such as the Sant’Angelo Castle and Ara Pacis Museum.

Sant’Angelo Castle

The Castel Sant'Angelo is divided into five floors, each reached by a spiral ramp that first reaches the chamber of ashes and, subsequently, the cells in which several historical figures were incarcerated. Advancing toward the upper part of the castle, you will find different rooms that functioned as papal residences decorated with perfectly preserved frescoes from the Renaissance period and an extensive collection of weapons. On the upper floor is a large terrace where you can take amazing photographs of the city from above.

Ara Pacis Museum

The Ara Pacis is one of the most important artistic works from ancient times. It was built to celebrate Rome's power under Emperor Augustus after his victories north of the Alps between 16 and 13 BC. In 1937-1938, the Ara Pacis was finally dug up to celebrate the 2000th birthday of Augustus, thanks to the archaeologist Giuseppe Moretti. After being restored, it was moved near the Tiber River. For many years, it was damaged by traffic, pollution, and dirt. Richard Meier designed a new museum to protect the Ara Pacis. This museum keeps the monument safe from environmental and earthquake damage while creating a space combining ancient and modern styles.

Hop on Hop off Rome Boat Tour

The Hop on Hop off Rome Boat offers a wonderful tour that lets you explore the city by boat with a ticket valid for 24 hours, allowing unlimited hop-on hop-off access for two consecutive days. The tour includes four stops: Isola Tiberina, near the Trastevere neighborhood and main attractions like Piazza Venezia and Bocca della Verità; Castel Sant’Angelo, close to Vatican City, the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona; Ponte Sisto, near Campo de’ Fiori and Piazza Trilussa; and Popolo Square, adjacent to the exclusive shopping district around the Spanish Steps. Onboard, you can enjoy a multi-language audio guide that provides fascinating insights into Rome's history, making it a delightful and educational way to see the city.

The combo ticket of Sant’Angelo, Ara Pacis, and the Hop on Hop Off Rome Boat Tour comprehensively explores Rome’s rich history, artistic heritage, and scenic beauty.
