Important Things to Do In Lima
Lima is the capital of Peru and is a great place to visit and provides a lot of things to do. The city was founded on 26 June 1535 by Francisco Pizarro, and was originally named Ciudad de los Reyes (City of the Kings).It is a historical city with many cultural landmarks, but it also has a vibrant nightlife and exciting shopping areas. The first thing that you should know about Lima is that it's one of the most affordable capitals in South America.
 
Lima is home to some of the best museums in South America. There are many large museums in Lima and small museums scattered around the city for those who want to explore more cultural points from an artistic point of view.
 
Museo de Jrme Bocklai
The Museum of Jrme Bocklai (Museo de Jrme Bocklai) is located in Lima City, Peru. It was founded in 1997 by artist, designer and historian J.R.Bocklai, and is dedicated to the artistic production of this prolific Spanish artist who lived in Lima for most of his life.
 
Museo de la Nacion
The Museo de la Nacion was designed to house and exhibit the country's national treasures, including ceramics, textiles, paintings, and other objects from a variety of periods. The Museum’s collection of archaeological artifacts is among the best in Peru and includes many priceless pieces from cultures such as Paracas, Nasca, Moche, Chimu and Inca.
 
It was established on 28 September 1824 by decree issued by then-Jefe Supremo José de San Martín as a way to preserve the memory of Peru’s historic heritage.
 
Museo de Arte Moderno
Museo de Arte Moderno is a renowned art museum that has been providing visitors with insight into the latest trends in the art market since 1962. Its collection includes more than 25,000 works from around the world.
 
The museum was founded by Carlos Morel in 1962 and it's home to works by master artists of the 20th century like Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Joan Miro as well as local modernist artists
 
Church Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa Lima is known for its rice production, traditional dances and the variety of Catholic churches which are found throughout the small town. One major church in this town is Church Santa Rosa which was built around 1740. This church has become one of the most important buildings in Santa Rosa and it is where the main Catholic celebrations take place.
 
The Church was originally built as a mission church and it would have been completed by 1732 but construction did not complete until 1740 when Father Manuel Jose Camarones had finished building this church.
 
Food
Lima has a wide variety of cuisines that reflects its origins. The Peruvian cuisine consists mainly of seafood, potatoes, and rice while there is a smaller percentage of international cuisine, mainly from Spanish and Italian immigrants. Some popular dishes are Arroz con pollo (chicken with rice), Pescado a la plancha (grilled fish), Chaufa (fried rice dish).
 
Culture and History
Lima has a rich history during colonial times when Lima was the only port in South America to have trade connections with Asia in the 17th century. Today, Lima's rich colonial past can be seen through its parks, churches, museums and monuments. Lima also hosts cultural events like Carnaval which takes place every year around February where people wear costumes representing different countries while they dance to live music.
